I have trust issues with my car now!
Dear Hyundai!!!
Lovely day I thought until I got into my car... So this past Sunday 6/28 in the morning I got in my car and voila! the check engine light came on and the
car wouldn’t start. It made a sound like it was trying but nothing started. I
tried four times. I then got out of the car, hit the auto start remote button
and the car started up. I jumped in the car, put my key in the ignition and the car
wouldn’t move. It's like it caught an attitude with me because it overheard me saying I prefer my gsxr to my car smh. But mood swing or not.. i'm still making car payments on this bad boy... so a check engine light is not funny. Thus the car wouldn't now turn off or move. I was puzzled Meanwhile the horn, the radio, and
headlights were all working. Weird right! I then hit the remote auto start button while in the car
and it turned the car off. Then I put the key into the ignition and it started up out of nowhere. I
immediately drove to Auto Zone and they read the check engine light as the
below pic states “Faulty throttle actuator control motor” / “throttle body
damage” etc. I asked, okay, what's that? (as they looked at me like duh don't you know what that is). The guy who did the checked sincerely admitted he was clueless, the lady behind the register messing around with auto parts said "it means that your throttle control module might be damaged".. AS IF they explained everything!! wtf. I simply said thank you, took the receipt and went to my car.
I got back in the car and it wouldn’t start again. Of course not smh. I
tried for a second time and it started up and the check engine light went away. So clearly as naive as I am, i figured it was a fluke, the car is fine.. the check engine light is gone. So I drove to Bloomfield, ran errands and on my way home (to Clifton) on the
garden state parkway with no shoulder (due to construction) the check engine
light and the traction light came on and I literally lost all power. The gas
pedal stopped working (yeah i know.. you kinda need the gas pedal on a highway!!) Meanwhile, my horn, headlights, hazardous and brakes
were still working. I was in the left lane and had to pull over to the right
lane and hope nobody ran into the back of me. I stopped the car due to gas
pedal not working and I put the car in park, turned the car off and attempted
to turn it back on. It did not start. I tried multiple times after that, and
eventually around the 5th try
it started up again with the check engine light still on. I was scared out of
my mind. I was shaking because it did not look like that suv and truck noticed that
I was stopped.. they were coming up behind me pretty fast... because if you think about it.. who stops on a highway!!! ummm
no one!! But there was no shoulder.. i had no gas pedal/power and no where to go ... smh!
At that point, i should've gotten out of the car and hoped somebody crushed it
so i could get a new car! (no luck there)
I drove off the GSP and it cut off again. And the gas pedal didn’t
work …. Again!! I tried and tried it it wouldn't start. My mom came as the car
rolled to the bus stop and stayed there with the hazardous lights on. Of course
when she got in the car... Voila! the car turned over like nothing was ever
wrong.. WTF!!! I was thisclose to crying due to sheer frustration and being
scared to death of getting hit from behind on the garden state parkway. Those
nuts (usually me) drive well over 70mph on any given day in any given lane. So
i was definitely blessed to avoid that bad accident. No more highways until
this is fixed. Actually i'm not even touching the car until i dump it at the
hyundai dealer to get looked at. Once it turned on with my mom in the car, I
quickly went straight to my house cutting through parking lots, avoiding lights
and other cars and parked it! Clearly something is wrong. This isn't an
old car so I don't expect this from a 2011 Hyundai.. what gives?? The point of
me buying a barely used 35k mile car in the first place is to avoid this type
of drama!
This should be covered under my Hyundai 5 year/100k
warranty. Yet nobody from Hyundai knows what's going on. I'm taking it to Wayne
Hyundai this week with a hope and a prayer that they figure out what's wrong as
this has been a problem car alllll year! About ready to trade it in for
something else.. anything else.
This is why I ride a motorcycle!!!!!!!!!!!!!
